Passing of Charlie Kirk

I had the privilege of working alongside Charlie Kirk for several years. Though others knew him far more closely, I want to honor the part of his life that I was able to share.

Political violence didn’t just take a man. It tried to silence dialogue itself.

Charlie was always kind to me. Even when he knew I was critical of evangelical culture, he defended my place in the movement publicly, once reminding a room of young leaders, on my behalf, that America was founded on freedom of belief. That moment spoke volumes about his character.

In private, Charlie carried himself with a lightness that surprised people who only knew his aggressive public style. He glowed in meet-and-greets, treating every supporter with energy and warmth.

May we find the courage to keep discourse alive in his absence.

He believed in discourse, in showing up at a table and taking hard questions. That commitment is what makes his death so devastating. Political violence didn’t just take a man. It tried to silence dialogue itself.

I’ll remember Charlie as someone who chose conversation over avoidance, and as someone who treated me with respect even when we disagreed. May that spirit of discourse endure.
